"Polvere Luna" is Italian for "moon dust," which is how I see this blog-- neither here nor there. A mix of tangible things, and things that are maybe not so much. Art, ideas, musings, inspiration.
When I went to art college, I learned a lot and improved my craft exponentially, but I also learned to care too much about pleasing other people. I lost the spontaneity I'd had before and became frustrated with the status quo. I felt stifled. My preferred personal style wasn't trendy or well liked, and I graduated feeling like I'd have to make art I don't like in order to have a successful career. I put away my sketchbook and became a commercial product photographer for e-commerce.
Lately I started thinking, maybe that's not true.
This blog is about my artistic journey, unlearning the less productive things that I learned in art school and growing in skill and confidence so I can move forward with my desire to publish a book of travel drawings.
(If anybody is confused/concerned about identity, I use the name Oscura Photography for my personal photographic work. You'll likely see it littered around the blog.)
